Progress Towards Abetavu Children’s Village - July 2010

Our goal is to prepare the land, fence the perimeter, and start the construction on the main house by the end of 2010. Although we were successful in raising some funds towards this project we still have a long way to go.

We are looking for someone with a skill set in writing grant applications who would be willing to donate their time and expertise. If you know of anyone who may be able to help in this regards, please let us know. This would open up opportunities to apply to foundations such as the Clinton Foundation and move our project forward exponentially.

We purchased our land! - March 2010

A very significant part of our dream has come true. We now own 11 acres of land thanks to donations from AG Hair Cosmetics and Please Mum Children’s Stores. The land is 30km outside of Kampala and far enough away for us to feel the children will be safe from the hustle of the city.

There are mango, banana and avocado trees already on this land, as well as cassava, maize and sweet potatoes – a very good start towards our goal of being self-sufficient. The land has a natural source of water from a spring and access to electricity.
